New Submersible Pump Test Well

New Submersible Pump Test Well Two underground tanks with 9000 Gallon Storage have been installed,complete with 132Kw Variable Speed Drive Power Supply to facilitate the Full Load Testing of Submersible Pumps.Through the use of a Flowmeter and a Pressure Guage,each pump repair/overhaul will generate a performance curve which can be compared to its original Manufacturer’s Specification.This facility provides positive verification of the pump performance before it leaves our workshops for re-installation.

New Precision Engineering Workshop at Avonmore Electrical

In January 2011, Avonmore Electrical moved its Precision Engineering operations to a new integrated workshop, on the existing Avonmore site at Roskeen, Mallow Co Cork . The move of the new workshop not only integrates the services provided, but also acts as an upgrade of existing facilities and increases operational efficiencies as electrical and mechanical work will be undertaken at the one location. The new workshop possesses the capability to accommodate overhauls and repairs for all electrical and mechanical equipment and components. The workshop also accommodates all types of welding and fabrication services for new projects and repair work.

Pyrolysis Oven

Pyrolysis is the thermal decomposition of organic materials in a low-oxygen environment. In the process of traditional burning-out of materials, the binding agents (e.g. varnish, resin, paint and plastic) will combust (due to the high oxygen content), so that the heating of the materials will not be equal. This unequal heating (hot spots) may cause damage to materials (internal cracks), leading to loss of quality and efficiency. When using Pyrolysis, the degree of control is accurate as the parts are heated up in a more controlled way. Pyrolysis Ovens are capable of decomposing larger amounts of binding agents in comparison with the traditional burnout ovens, since no combustion can take place in a low-oxygen environment, allowing the temperature control to remain optimal.This system not only controls the oven air temperature, but also stator core temperature by controlling the rate of combustion of the varnish/epoxy on the stator. This process provides a precise temperature rate of rise, so as to closely monitor the temperature of the stator undergoing heat stripping, thus assuring you of a quality burn without damaging core laminations.

Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (V.P.I)

V.P.I allows Avonmore Electrical to offer the ultimate rewind electrical performance and quality. All motors/generators are processed under vacuum and pressure with solvent less epoxy resin to provide void-free electrical windings. The V.P.I process provides maximum penetration of resin throughout the turns of individual windings. V.P.I is superior to solvent varnishes and the conventional “dip and bake” method. Solvent varnishes lose 50 to 70% of volume during baking, leaving air pockets and voids. V.P.I provides a 100% solid mass structure that gives you the greatest strength and cooler running motor due to enhanced heat dissipation and the highest level of environmental protection. A winding that undergoes V.P.I is virtually impervious to oil, chemical and moisture contaminates. V.P.I is accessible to both AC and DC applications.

Avonmore Electrical attends BWEA (British Wind and Energy Association) Annual Conference and Exhibition

Avonmore Electrical Exhibit Stand at BWEA Conference and Exhibition Glasgow.

Avonmore Electrical recently attended the BWEA (British Wind and Energy Association) 32nd annual 3 day conference and exhibition in Glasgow. The event was held in the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) between 2nd – 4th November where over 300 exhibitors were present and some 4,200 delegates were registered for this event.

Throughout the 3day event Avonmore Electrical exhibit presented the UK Wind, Wave & Tidal Industries through literature and animation all services and recent advancements and developments in their technologies at Roskeen Mallow Co-Cork.

Representing Avonmore Electrical was Mr. Alan Philpott Product Development Manager and Mr Donnagh Buckley Head of Repair Management & Customer Support.
